When I sat down with Charlotte + Steve, one of the things they wanted to emphasis was how much they wanted this to be less of a wedding and more of a huge party. A party with all their friends and family, excellent food (Ed Dixon’s grazing table made me weak at the knees!) expresso martinis for everyone, loads of dancing and a shared moment watching the sun go down from their favourite spot on Steve’s family property. And it was all of these things. And a little more.
I absolutely adore shooting weddings on properties and in backyards. There’s a closeness and a bond to the space. And they tend to get rowdier and crazier into the night. This property in Flinders had already seen numerous engagements and proposals in the family. Charlotte + Steve had spent months chopping and stacking wood to make the huge wood pile fence that divided the ceremony space from the reception. It was home.
And it ended up being one hell of a party.
