One of the things that I love about photographing weddings is seeing the way couples choose how they want their day to go. Where they choose to exchange their vows, what they want to wear, how much they chose to spend and what could be struck from the list of wedding ‘musts’ and ‘to do’s’. Would there be a cake, or a giant cheese wheel? Would there be a bridal party? Would the bride wear white or a gold sequin dress?
All these choices help to define the couple, and we have yet to photograph two weddings that are alike.
Zillah + Damian chose the West Coburg Bowls Club as their spot. They greeted their guests as they arrived, handing out personalised badges which also divided them into teams for the epic trivia game for later that evening.
They chose their outfits from local thrift stores and op shops.
They chose to spend the afternoon bowling barefoot as the sun went down.
A hilarious and unconventional song was chosen as their first dance (‘Thrift Shop’ by Macklemore).
All these choices made for a beautiful afternoon, a gorgeous wedding and an amazing night on the dance floor.
This was our first wedding for 2013 and I hope you love it as much as I do.
Love Katie xo
